For champions

Championing someone is more than giving advice.

A champion goes out of their way for one person's success — putting their name in front of the right people, opening routes to resources inside their organisation and outside it, and checking on how that person is actually doing, not only how the project is going.

Four things a champion does.

None of them require an hour. All of them require meaning it.

01

Says your name in rooms you are not in

An introduction to one of their connections is worth more than a year of advice. Champions spend their social capital rather than describing it.

02

Opens routes to resources

Inside their organisation and outside it — the programme, the fund, the person, the thing that already exists and nobody told you about.

03

Watches the whole person

Growth and wellbeing, not only the project. The question is how you are doing, and it is asked as though the answer matters.

04

Keeps a rhythm that fits

The cadence is set to what the leader needs, where they are in life, and the tier they are on. Some weeks are a message; some are a real conversation.

Who our champions arePeople a few steps further along the same road, ready to give back — volunteering their resourcefulness, their intellectual capability and their social capital to support someone standing where they stood years earlier. Not experts dispensing wisdom. People who remember.

The difference

A champion is not a mentor.

The people we interviewed often had mentors. One put it plainly: "I just don't think I reached out."

MENTOR · REACTIVE you the wall mentor you reach out — if you do already stuck CHAMPION · PROACTIVE you champion set to your need the wall, still ahead names it before you reach it
The difference is who starts the conversation. A mentor is a resource you have to remember to use; a champion is a scheduled call you cannot forget to make.

CurveProof in action

What it looks like for one person.

A first-generation creative entrepreneur was juggling client work, family, and his own ambitions — always busy, never moving. Through CurveProof he was matched with a champion who helped him name his real blocker, which turned out not to be time but focus, and set one clear goal for the week.

In his words, the weekly check-ins gave him something he had never had before: someone genuinely invested in his progress, helping him navigate the next step instead of figuring it all out alone.
